Indonesian students in the Netherlands Sure There Political Intervention in Chaotic KPK-police

LEIDEN, - Indonesian Students Association (PPI) in Leiden, the Netherlands suspect there criminalization of the leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This suspicion is reinforced by the report misconduct committed four KPK leaders, but the report was submitted simultaneously.

In addition, the PPI in Leiden also believe there is a political intervention regarding the case of the criminalization of the KPK leaders.

"We conclude from the observation that we are doing that these reports seem engineered, awkward procedural law, and loaded with political content, which will lead to paralysis of the Commission institutions. It can not be justified given the institution has a very important role in eradication of corruption in Indonesia, "wrote Chairman Herman Joseph Paryono Leiden PPI in an open letter to President Joko Widodo, Saturday (02/05/2015).

Herman said, PPI Leiden reject all forms of political and legal intervention to weaken and disrupt the performance of the Commission in efforts to combat corruption. Political intervention, he added, is closely related to the appointment of Commissioner General of Police Budi Gunawan as police chief candidates were finally named as a suspect by the KPK for allegedly undue financial transactions.

PPI Leiden, said Herman, police chief candidates understand the appointment decision is the right president. However, they asked for the president to not induct Budi as police chief and police chief candidates immediately find new and clean and free of legal issues.

"Sustainability Commission and the Police become a benchmark of upholding the rule of law and a reference to the sustainability of the eradication of corruption in Indonesia. Therefore, we fully support the President who has done the necessary steps to resolve the conflict and political intervention disturbing the people of Indonesia, such as Nine team formation, "said Herman.

Herman also stated, PPI Leiden asked President oversees the performance of the Team of Nine for transparency of information to the public if it were already discovered the existence of facts or new information. The President was asked to follow up on the work if the Nine team has been working according the principle of transparency.
